CARRIER & ANDY STOTT

CARRIER

Carrier is the latest project from veteran British producer Guy Brewer, whose restless career has already taken him from the influential drum & bass duo Commix to the austere, industrial techno of Shifted and his Avian label. Carrier folds those histories into something harder to classify: skeletal percussion, cavernous dub space, electro-acoustic texture, and the ghost architecture of jungle and drum & bass.

ANDY STOTT

Manchester producer Andy Stott has spent more than two decades turning techno inside out. A longtime fixture of the Modern Love label, Stott emerged from dub techno before slowing, distorting, and overloading the form into the famously battered sound of Passed Me By and We Stay Together, followed by the landmark Luxury Problems. His music can be brutally physical and eerily beautiful at once: submerged vocals, enormous low end, corroded percussion, and flashes of hardcore, post-punk, ambient music, and jungle drifting through the wreckage.

MARTEKA FAIR

Winston-Salem producer Marteka Fair builds hypnotic dub-techno from intricate polyrhythms, repetition, noise, and sustained rhythmic pressure.

DRALETIKA

Durham’s Draletika collides frantic jungle breaks with blown-out, bit-crushed textures—raw, damaged dance music.

Matthew Cha "Technojazz" Release

Modular virtuoso (and great friend of BOOM) Matthew Cha presents Technojazz, a live, semi-improvised suite composed for Buchla 200 and alto saxophone, with the recording captured in one take with no overdubbing.

From the man himself: “This recording is a recognition of the fraternal connection between these two instruments, as well as their advanced capacities for high-resolution, phenomenological expression. I struggled to capture the genuine musical aliveness of the interactions between Buchla and saxophone with entirely through-composed pieces, and instead decided the best outcome was to capture these performed, reactive musical gestures in the moment of their natural curiosity, and present this as the album.”

Seeing Matthew play is like watching a prestigious scientist play with exploding powders and color-changing smoke: lively and fun, yet precise and controlled.

Kindred spirit and frequent live collaborator Ultrabillions plays in support.

BASICS OF MIDI WORKSHOP

BASICS OF MIDI WORKSHOP

JUST WHAT THE HELL IS MIDI? Well, it’s short for Musical Instrument Digital Interface; at least we know that. MIDI is the industry standard for how electronic instruments talk to computers and one another. It’s arcane, powerful, and often annoying, but a basic understanding of this ubiquitous technology can make a room full of synthesizers feel like your own personal robot band.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, we'll cover the fundamentals of MIDI: where it came from, why it's still the glue holding so much electronic music together, and how you can use it without earning a degree in menu-diving. We'll sync drum machines and synthesizers to a common tempo, control software instruments with hardware controllers, sequence multiple instruments from a single brain, and build a simple, reliable live setup that you can actually take out into the world.

DJ PYTHON AND FOODMAN

Two of electronic music’s most distinctive voices share a bill at BOOM Club. From hyper-detailed rhythmic experiments to humid, dub-soaked club music, Foodman and DJ Python each push dance music into strange and beautiful territory while remaining deeply connected to its roots.

Foodman is the project of Japanese producer and DJ Takahide Higuchi, whose playful, genre-defying music combines footwork, J-pop, experimental electronics, and intricate percussion. His releases for labels like Planet Mu have earned him a reputation as one of the most inventive producers working today.

DJ Python is the New York–based producer Brian Piñeyro, known for his signature blend of deep reggaeton rhythms, ambient textures, and dub-infused house music. His critically acclaimed releases have helped define a new lane in contemporary electronic music- warm, hypnotic, and emotionally rich.

Field Recording Field Trip with Peretsky

Head outside and listen closely. This workshop starts in the streets around BOOM Club, capturing sound from the urban environment, from the obvious to the easily missed. Then we come back inside and turn those recordings into something new: sampling, looping, and building compositions on the spot.
